Bar Harbor, Maine

Bar Harbor got it's name because of the sand bar that appears when the tide is out.  The level of the ocean goes down 16 feet and you can walk from the city to Bar Island.  It was really cool!

 Look....some color!
We took a great bike ride through beautiful Acadia National Park

Halifax, Nova Scotia and Saint John, New Brunswick

First port was Halifax, Nova Scotia
We took an excursion to the most photographed light house...Peggy's Cove
What a cute little seaside village this was
The houses were so colorful and this one reminded me of the Italian "flags" in Italy

We went to the Maritime Museum where they have the biggest collection of Titantic artifacts.  Here I am hanging on the deck!

A beautiful sunset from our ship that night
The next day we were in Saint John, New Brunswick.  We were docked right next to the Queen Mary 2 and our little Princess ship was bigger!
We loved this little city and walked all over it.

Occasionally we would see a little fall color!
In the afternoon we took a tour to the Reversing Falls in the Bay of Fundy.  The tide rises and falls so much here that you have falls going one way at a certain time and then another way later.

We cleaned up  quite nice for dinner
Another pretty sunset....and it's off to bed for these old folks!

Anniversary Cruise to New England

For our 43rd anniversary we headed to New England and a cruise.  First stop was NYC.  This was our first time there together and we hit the ground running...first stop Times Square.
 Rockafeller Center
 Grand Central Station
Saturday before boarding the ship we got to go to the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island.  I got to check this off my bucket list as it was closed last time I was in NYC because it was just 3 weeks after 9-11
I am pretty sure I was the only one there who had tears come to my eyes just being there
My thought were with my grandma, Tryntje Barendregt, and thinking how she felt when she sailed into NYC to see this great lady welcoming her from her homeland, Holland.
Grandma entered this great land with thousands of other here at Ellis Island
Here is her name on the records
I know Grandma was in this room as she started her new life in America.  I sure wish I would have talked to her about this great adventure.  She was a brave woman.
The view from our ship as we sailed off to Halifax, Nova Scotia....more pictures later!

Libby is 2!!!

Libby turned two Sept. 8th and had quite the weekend!
She had a pool party with her friends on her birthday.  Notice she can put 2 fingers up!
Friday evening we went to Disneyland and she got her birthday button.  Everyone told her "happy birthday:" even the cast from the parade!
She got to ride her favorite pink Dumbo!
She never ceases to be enthralled by It's a Small World and can sing the whole song!
Libby's friends (all boys) enjoyed her pool party too!  She loves Ian (on the right)!
What could be better than hanging in the pool with Daddy and bubbles!
And then presents too!!! Lots of Minnie Mouse goodies!
Happy Birthday Libby!

Lexi's big weekend

Alexis Arami Macbeth was blessed by her daddy on Sunday, September 2, 2012.
The Foster side of Lexi's family in attendance

We tried to get big sister, Libby, to smile!
Jen and Summer flew in for the occasion and then had to head out Sunday for the 20 hour drive back to Montana in Summers new (?) car!
Saturday night we all went to Verizon amphitheater to hear the Pacific symphony play the musical score while the first Pirates of the Caribbean movie played.

We had a nice walk on Strands beach at sunset

Ellie had a great time exploring a seaweed holdfast where she found hundreds of sea creatures including this sea urchin
Later we met up with the Macbeths for a nice walk at Dana Point Harbor
Monday we went to Three Arch Bay where they had a great end of summer party.  Max won 3rd place in his race
Ellie came in third in her race too.
Who needs water when you have daddy to pull you on the sand!
Becky found a crab Libby liked
Amy in front of the arches
It was a great weekend for all.
